In fact any device that supports SIP or IAX2 protocol will work with our service. You do need to have a small balance in your account, from which the cost of the phone calls are deducted as you make them. (Which means you have to put a few dollars in there in order for their to be a balance.) All rates and transactions for all of our phone services are in US dollars. International rates are higher than USA/Canada rates. To see a list of countries you might be able to call (in another window) please click here.

If you wish to connect a traditional/standard phone to our VoIP services you will usually require a Analog Telephone Adapter (ATA). We do not sell or provide ATA adapters at this time.
You can open a VoIP account right this minute. Once you sign up you will get an on screen message saying "Your account has been created. We will contact you soon upon activation of the account." It just means that the system needs someone in the office to click on a button to 'approve' that new account. So usually within 24 hours that will be done, and you will receive an e-mail letting you know. Then you can login (see link on next paragraph below) add funds, wait for us to credit your VoIP Account with those funds (could take 24 hours), and then start making calls.
Please note that we have to assign a 'Plan' to your VoIP Account when we 'active' it. Usually we will initially assign the 'Pay As You Go - Phone Calling Card Like Service'. If you wish us to switch you to a different plan instead, then please Contact us and tell us that. Once activated you need to login and add money to it (usually in increments of $5 or more). Then we need to approve that money, so it will show in your plan (could take up to 24 hours). We hope to more fully automate these processes in the coming months. There is a 'Rates' menu option which you will see once you login, and that way you will know what your rates will be before you make any calls. Some sample rates (at the time this was written) would be USA at about 3 cents per minute (local and long distance - lower 48 states), and to numbers in Canada (local and long distance - Ontario) at about 1 and a half cents per minute. (Rates subject to change.) Rates to other places will vary. In terms of call 'quality' these are 'Value' quality, not 'Premium' quality. If you want a plan which uses a "Premium' level of call quality we can get you one, but it will cost more. This plan is intended for residential users for personal use. Business users are requested to contact us to discuss your needs. We do not accept the connection of auto-dial types of devices, robocalls, and automated telemarketing devices.
The best way is to try it for yourself, sign up for free, add a small amount of funds, say $5, and consider it a $5 experiment. Once activated (may take up to 24 hours), and the funds have been added to your account (may take another up to 24 hours to finalize), configure yourself a device or a Softphone (or a program on your PC, laptop, tabled or mobile phone using your home high speed internet connection or WiFi) to use it, make some calls. If you don't like it, consider it $5 worth of entertainment. You don't get much in this world today for $5. If you don't like it, tell us. If you do like it, tell others. (Please note that our two affiliate referral plans do not apply to these VoIP phone services.) If later on you want to add a phone number, let us know, and we can discuss it by Help Desk ticket / e-mail. There might be some messing around to get going, and some getting used to, but it might save you money. If you need to have a country added to the already extensive list of countries you can call, please contact us to discuss, some are beyond our control, others we may be able to add for you.
We do not configure devices/programs/softphones for you. Most come with their own instructions anyways. If you need some data to help with the configuration, chances are if you login to your VoIP Account, and then click on the 'My Services' menu you might find the info you need for the settings on your device. All customer accounts are defaulted to 'device type' of 'ATA, IP Phone or Soft phone'. If you needed your account reset to use a different 'device type' (such as Asterisk, IP PBX, Gateway, VoIP Switch), then please Contact us and ask, it just may be possible! We usually reply to all Help Desk Inquiries within 24 hours, 7 days a week (except that we often ignore bulk mail trying to sell us stuff). If you need server names and IPs for your configuration, you may use anyone of these, (you do not have to be geographically close to them to use them):
USA: (chicago4.voip.ms) 220.127.116.11
Canada: (toronto4.voip.ms) 18.104.22.168
UK: (london.voip.ms) 22.214.171.124
Afterwards click here for the Existing VoIP Customer Login to be able to access your account, add more funds when needed, and perform most transactions on your own including ordering DID / Phone number (except for moving a phone number phone number, which would require your to contact us).
We offer e911 (like 911) service only for US and Canadian phone numbers (including USA and Canadian Toll-free numbers) which have been setup though our system. A small monthly fee does apply, as does a small setup fee. You must keep your physical address up to date with us in order for the e911 to be effective. Regardless, whenever using e911 or 911 always try to give the physical address where you require assistance. (Please note that the way in which the address info is processed/transferred varies between the USA and Canada).
In much the same was as you can make outgoing phone calls worldwide, you can receive incoming phone calls worldwide, but there is a catch. In order to receive incoming phone calls from anywhere, you would need to have a phone number, or what we also often call a 'direct inward dial number' or a 'DID'. The good new is that we do sell phone numbers or DIDs for many parts of the USA and Canada. In fact we currently have DID numbers available in many parts of 49 states, and 4 provinces (Ontario, Quebec, BC, & Alberta). We also have USA toll free numbers, and Canada tool free numbers. On top of that, we have international DIDs available in 30 countries!
In many cases you can keep your existing phone number (local number portability), if you ask us to 'port' (move) it to our system, rather than buying a new number (DID) from us. Porting a number is the process of transferring a telephone number from one provider to another provider. The wait time for the number to be ported is about 2 to 4 weeks in the USA, and about 1 week in the Provinces of Ontario & Quebec. You cannot use the above links to move a phone number. To do that you will have to open a Help Desk Ticket with us, and we will have to go back and forth with you at least a few times (by e-mail) to set things up. The best way is just to open a Help Desk ticket (on our other website) to ask about it, and go from there. contact us. After submitted your ticket, you should then receive a confirmation e-mail from our Help Desk that your ticket has been opened, and we usually respond to tickets with 24 hours, 7 days a week. If you do not hear back in 24 hours please check your spam folder, and if the reply was not there then please open a new ticket
There are a few important details to remember when using the best cheap VoIP phone service providers home mobile business PBX from WRS Web Solutions Inc., such as the fact that these VoIP services are priced and billed in US dollars, and that sales taxes will be applied to Canadian residents, and of course that 411 calls will be billed at about 99 cents per 411 call. As well, our VoIP Services are managed and billed separately from our other services, such as high speed internet, or web hosting. Note that when you use these service sover your high speed internet, they consume bandwidth usage, and if used on a mobile phone may consume 'data' (if data is activated).
Now in terms of E911 (the VoIP form of 911), in the USA and Canada E911 will not work with our services unless you have a phone number from us (also known as a DID - or 'direct in dial number'). If you have a phone number from us, we will configure E911 to work with it, but if you change your physical address on your account you have to tell us (in the VoIP system), or any E911 call might send responders to your old address. (Not a good situation.) A small E911 fee applies. If you ever do need to call 911 or E911 ensure that you give your current physical address, and do not assume they have it.
Now if you want to order a phone number (DID) you will have to use the contact form and tell us. The same applies if you want to move your phone number to us (called 'porting'), you will have to contact us using the contact form, and we can discuss it by e-mail. You do not need a phone number to make outgoing calls, only to receive incoming calls.
Minutes in monthly plans usually include both incoming and outgoing call minutes. Calls beyond the USA and Canada may be at higher rates. Please be sure you understand your plan and how it works, before using it.
Finally please remember that you have to put some money into your account to be able to make calls. They are not free! (I know we wish they were too!) It like topping up a calling card. You put a small amount of money on it (or more if you wish) and then use it up a bit at a time, over time.
The below are some links to free downloads of softphone apps:
Please note that carrier data charges may apply, 911 calls made through Zoiper will show as originating from your service address, and we do not offer support for Zoiper.
